Having carried out some
de-briefs with clients relating to recent
incidents, a common theme emerges. Speed
and the level of response seem to colour
the on-going response to the crisis.
This is just one of
the many critical success factors we have
identified over the years in managing crises.
The above audit questions your preparedness
for a speedy response amongst a number of
other key areas. All these will have to
be managed if you have any chance of emerging
from a crisis with your reputation intact.

Is
your organisation prepared for change?
Change in the workplace has become a way
of life. Increased competition, re-organisation,
new technology, growth, mergers and staff
turnover are all regular occurrences. Managers
at all levels are challenged to maintain
and increase performance often under chaotic
and complex conditions.
Keeping
teams focused, engaged and productive in
the midst of continuing change can be a
challenging and stressful task. Many organisations
continue to give scant focus on the management
of human capital through these periods of
change. What do you do with your most important
assets through these periods?
Many organisations are now discovering that
although they might have changed the physical
environment such as the office environment
that they have not moved the ‘hearts’ of
their workforce with them. When this happens
it can lead to reduced productivity, sickness
absence, high levels of stress, frustration
and resistance.
Change your approach to managing change,
equip your managers with the skills to move
the ‘hearts’ of your staff and not only
maintain productivity but increase it! Managers
can develop these skills through training
and coaching. Equip your Managers to carry
out their jobs effectively.
A
good starting point could be to undertake
a stress management audit of your workforce.
docleaf have devised web based tools to
help the HR team survey the workforce and
better understand the current mood and intrinsic
stress levels.

Sharing
overseas hotel health and safety data.
The recent
tragic events in Corfu have once again highlighted
the importance of undertaking some form
of health and safety checks of properties
that travel arangers contract with..
Recent research by docleaf's sister company,
Travelsafe, shows that hotels are reporting
an ever-increasing number of requests for
H&S information from their buyers, whether
they are tour operators, corporate travel
arrangers or individuals booking directly
with the property.
Andy Jarosz, Head of Travelsafe reports
that in a recent survey commissioned among
the Travelsafe hotel partners, more then
a third of hotels stated that they are asked
to complete more then three different health
and safety audits in a year, with 12% completing
more than ten! In more then 75% of cases
more then 2 people are involved in collating
this data.
Travelsafe was formed in part to help reduce
on this duplication of effort by sharing
hotel H&S data on a web based platform.
One immediate benefit of sharing this data
is that the limited resources that any buyer
of hotel beds can channel to this important
area can be spread much further.
To help buyers fulfil their duty of care,
Travelsafe is offering free access to the
on-line database. The registration process
will take no more then 2 minutes and can
be completed by clicking
here.
